Catalytic converter to fit in place RB 2.5" presilencer

I need to some help finding a catalytic converter that will fit the racing beat presence section so I can get an inspection sticker. Or I need help finding an 8 in long 2.5" i.d. 3" round converter to mount at the base of the downpipe in front of the presilencer. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Checkout Summit Racing. They sell both MagnaFlow and Catco universal fit catalytic converters. Also checkout Rx7.com. They sell a variety of configurations of catalytic converters by Bönez.

I've been looking at those, had the right size for the down pipe but overall diameter put it against the passenger side floor board in the down pipe. I will probably have to have some additional piping welded to the catalytic converter and flanges to fit the presilencer section correct?

Most likely it will require some fabrication to fit your particular application. You still need to get emissions inspection on your RX7 in Maine? In Virginia, emissions are not required once car reaches 25 years old. It's probably been four years since I last contended with emissions. Emissions was always a PITA!

No emissions except one county but all vehicles 83' and up need cats. New Hampshire needs cats but no emissions prior to 96'.

No ticket yet. I drove the car the 130 miles from Massachusetts to Maine with no inspection sticker. Really trying to avoid that ticket for not having an inspection.

when i installed my presilencer back in the day i thought it was a direct bolt on replacement for the oem cat.

i remember it being factory manifold - presilencer - catback

is that not the case?

wouldnt you just need a factory replacement cat from rock auto? or am i missing something

The Air Pump is also a critical part of the emissions system (as it supports the catalytic converter).

Do you still have your air pump? And do you intend to put the silencer back on after inspection? If the answer to both questions is no, then you also need to acquire an air pump. And possibly the ACV if that was removed too.

If you intend to just get the inspection then switch the silencer back in, you will probably be fine. Otherwise, without an air pump, the cat will prematurely fail.

So I have a few questions. Will the Acv from a s4 t2 work and the same of the s4 t2 split air pipe? Can I fabricate a new split air pipe set up with steel pipe, one way valve and necessary adapters? I believe most of the emissions systems were deleted by previous owner. Also in the mean time can I cap the inlet to the converter?

my suggestion really is to just go for the inspection and see what happens. I think the pre-silencer will look enough like a cat that you wont have a problem. whats the worse that can happen? you have to come back with one?

i doubt they will know what an original one ( or 3 ) look like and doubt they would think that after 30 years it would have survived without being replaced at some point.
