Cat replacement

Hey guys...this may be a dumb question but I have a stock exhaust with a downpipe on my 87 TII. I want to get rid of the main cat but don't want the car to be too loud. A little noise is OK but I don't need more attention than I already get. I saw the racing beat presilencer but its expensive and am under the impression that it won't bolt right up to the stock y-pipe and probably not to my 2.5" DP. I don't want to put a cat on at all unless the high flow cat will give me less restriction than my question...What are my options for presilencers? Can I just have another muffler slapped on in the cat's place at a shop? Or will that restrict my even more. The main goal here obviously is less restriction so I can get the most power I can. A little noise is ok...as long as it sounds good. Any ideas guys?

Thanks in advance!

Dan

I went with the bonez superflo kit. Bolts right up to the stock d/p and catback and isn't too loud at all. Plus the flow is MUCH better than the stock setup.

You get some sound coming from the presilencer when you're standing next to the car, but nothing major.

Another good high-flow cat is by CATCO. You can get it from Summit Racing for $100

I was considering the kit...or buying a cheap cat and gutting it...but that once again brings the noise issue back. How does the high flow cat's flow compare to a straight pipe? thanks for the help so far guys.

My car sounds just fine with the CATCO. Not raspy at all.
