Is cat clogged?

I'm thinking I need a new cat, don't want to buy one atm though since the cars smogged till 09 already.

She flooded really bad, wouldn't start even after cleaning the plugs, I got some new plugs did the ATF trick and started good.

Ever since the cat gets really hot only after being on for a few mins, when revved up theres pops, friends dad told me "Your cat sounds clogged, should gut it and get the ..." whatever stuff is in there thats apparently worth money? He was joking to get that out of it, but he was serious about gutting it.

Could a really really bad flood cause a clogged cat? The cat was kinda glowing that day when I unclogged it, I haven't seen it glow since but I don't really look

If I gut my cat, what would happen? Horrible backfires and flames, or just run better and backfire more often. All stock s5 btw.

Just curious since I'm doing work on her today, also involving the exhaust
