call some local upholstrey shops. Our FC carpeting is really "synthetic", so they don't take to dye very well. A local shop could probably do it, or sell you the supplies--but it'll take some weird chemicals and it's kind of a long, difficult process.

I tried to dye some grey, rear carpeting from my N/A FC using basic "RIT" brand dye (available at any fabric store, or Walmart type store) and after several hours of sitting in a small kiddie-pool of very hot dye; upon rinsing the carpet off, I found that ONLY the outer edging/stitching was black. LOL. The rest of the carpet was unaffected! So yeah, it actually looked pretty cool, because it had a black border/stitching.

I've also dyed seat-covers using RIT dye and the same thing happened. The 'seat bolster' fabric remained grey, wheras the center-section was dye'd black. Again, it looked pretty sweet and "custom"--but don't count on getting the results you want without buying some pretty specific chemicals.

I bought some stuff from the local market, lol, it worked ok. Wasnt too bad, but wasnt the greatest either. I dyed a blue carpet black which was pretty easy, if you have that ugly red color, thats gonna be pretty hard to dye.

You need to make sure it is a plastic dye, cotton dyes a la RIT do soak into the nylon weave of our carpets.

Just an FYI, the spray on "dye" is not dye at all. It's just paint that they call "dye"... lol. It will show wear, feel rough to the touch and won't actually penetrate and change the physical color of whatever it is you're spraying.

However, I've used it many times on interior plastic, the rear bins carpeting, as well as the strut-tower carpeting (since these are low-wear areas). I don't prefer it for plastic though... "Trim" paint looks better IMO.
