carbon fiber hood flew up, questions.

hey all i get some pictures if yahll want. I have a fc3s.org carbon fiber hood. i forgot to put the hoodpins in and on the way hojme it flew up on me. nothing broke or shattered but the carbon fiber broke away from the fiber glass in some areas and there is a little bit of fiberglass missing from the edges. now is there anyway i can fix this? or sent it somewhere to get fixed?

Look for a boat repair place or a corvette repair shop. They'll be the best at fiberglass repairs. Any good body shop should be able to fix it as well.

I think the fc3s hoods have a fiberglass base with CF on top. Fiber is fiber and yes carbon fiber can be a little tricky/expensive to work on, they should be able to do it. Obviously, call around and let them know what you got.

alright well ill look around at fiberglass shops. the carbon fiber is fine. it will just need a new gel coat on it seeing the current one is scrathed up. yes the underneath is full fiberglass and the top is full carbon fiber.

another option: get another layer of CF put right on top of that, just a bit of CF weave isn't going to cost you that much, just put it on and then clearcoat it, it'll be like new...

Did the hoodlatch fail? Or were you using the pins only to keep the hood on?

answer his question. Are you using only the hood pins to keep the hood secure, or were you using hood pins and the stock hood latch, forgot the pins, and then the latch failed?

Got a question for you: Did your hood ever flutter under high speeds even with the hood pins latched?
