Car won't start, what sensors should i check?

I recently installed a rebuilt engine, but for some reason the car won't start unless I push start it (brand new starter). Even after it's push started it has a high idle and seems to lack power. Any idea what sensors I should check? Also someone messed with my variable resistor screw and my BAC valve screw. Is there a number of turns from the bottom that will set it to the stock setting?

I have a 10th AE w/ Rtek 1.7 with 720cc secondaries

Thanks

How many miles are on the rebuild? It could just have low compression.

100 miles... the last owner took it out of the car cause there was a small electrical fire. I got it with the engine out and i have never been able to get it to start without pushing it.

I really don't want to take off the UIM again and I know they are all connected. If i can't find the problem else where i will try that. What about TPS? would that cause it to not start?

Thanks guys

It will turn over.. the starter works fine.. it just won't start. Once it a while it will start up no problem, but that's like once in a blue moon.

sounds like there is low compression... maybe the apex seals have not seated yet? sorry that is all i can offer you too look into as for advice... i had a friend of mines car that only could start by push starting when hot, and it was due to this issue- new motor, apex seals have not yet seated
