Unhappy Car Wont Start!!! Need some help!

Im having problems starting my car. Fully charged battery and it doesnt click when i turn the ignition (i know its not the starter cuz i had it replaced when it used to click). Lights, hazards and everything turn on, so i know its not the battery.

Could it be my ignition? Fuses?

Is this going to be expensive???

you could have gotten a starter with a bad solenoid.

Check the battery voltage first. If the voltage is to low this will cause the starter to click when your trying to start it.

I dont mean to doubt your jumping skills but i had to do the same thing not to long ago. Atached the cables then tried to crank it, the starter just clicked away. I ended up leaving the cables attached for 5-10 mins then trying, fired up first time.

There is a item called a INTERLOCK. Its a switch on the clutch. You are supposed to depress the clutch to start the car. Wnen the clutch is depressed, the switch is made which in turn makes a circuit to the starter.

When you say all your lights work......does that include the idiot light cluster????? That is an important question. The headlight work off a different circuit.

IF the interlock sw is bad, that can be overcome by taking the plug off the interlock switch and jumpering a piece of wire b/t the two sockets on the plug. THEN when you go to start the car you won't have to depress the clutch to start the car.

check the ground maybe it came lose. you could try to create a temporary ground by using a (single/ one ) side of a jumper cable. putone end of the cable on the neg pst of the battery and the other end where the engine and tranny meet to complete the circuit. its just a troubleshooting sugestion.

first things first

is the engine turning over? if so then make sure you have spark and fuel.

if the engine is not turning over, check all your fuses. why would your car just randomly not start? did you do any kind of work on it?

he said it just clicks... is the click coming from the starter or the ignition inside the car? I am currently having the same problem, my ignition clicks once then nothing happens.

i have to bring this one back up....

im having this problem and i can use some troubleshooting advice.

if i move the battery terminlas i can get it to start and stay running. after i turn it off. i get a click and nothing. i have to move the terminals again a few times. i also noticed that when the terminals make good contact my idiot lights are bright and strong. but once i turn the car off and try to start it back up i get that click and they get very weak. anyone been thru this and fixed it?

im going to check that clutch switch out.

Remember the interlock was not on most 86 models.

buy a new positive cable and terminal, clean the battery post. your cable has broken down internally due to corrosion i change mine when i 1st got my 90 n/a that fixed the problem the previous owner was upset because he spent alittle more than a grand then gave me the car for free. good luck remember slack is our friend

First: Check and actually loosen and retighten all the battery to starter connections, and check if there is corrosion on or in the cable.

Hi, my 89 TII have the same problem.... it is sitting in front of my house right now.... =(
When i depress the clutch, i hear a click...
but the car doesn't start

Before this happened... i changed to 20w50 oil....Then my car started to start very slowly, it will crank slowly like a bad battery then start up just fine.... and ran just fine... i thought it was a bad battery, then i replaced the battery.... but it was still doing this....after reading the manual they say using high visco oil can affect starting dramatically... so i drained the oil again, changed it to 10W30...... it was still slow starting, so i thought that i needed to let the oil thin....but then after 3 days... my car stopped starting...

i've also tried jumping the car and starting it... nothing is working...

Someone PLEASE HELP!
