what do you mean you had the starter checked? sounds exactly like a starter solenoid. If you held it in the start position would the lights dim? If it was the battery posts wouldn't it click then all the power goes out, then jiggle the wires and it comes back on?

No. Battery post corrosion just makes it so the starter doesn't get enough amperage to turn over. The solenoid activatse fine (only takes a few amps to activate the solenoid, compared to the 50-x100 amps it takes to turn the engine voer).

oh **** it, its going to go in this order

1) its the battery posts
2) its the wiring to the starter
3) its the starter (apparently already tested)
4) bump start the motor
5) if you can't bump start, its carbon locked.

THE END.

EDIT: sorry im having a absolutely **** morning

1) i thought you said they checked the starter out ok. If they checked the starter, they checked the solenoid. The soilenoid is part of the starter, its not like some POS ford starter.
2) AS stated above, can you bump start the engine?

welcome to the club, and get used to that feeling. You better get competent with the mechanics of your car, or you will *NEVER* have any free money or time.
