car wont go into closed loop any ideas?

car wont go into closed loop any ideas?
dont know why, it used to, and o dont remember when it stopped doing it, but it just wont go into closed loop any longer. any thoughts?

1. no over the top switch (5th gear switch)
2. disconnected or bad O2 sensor

And what does a over the top switch have to do with closed loop?
