I learned alot from doing my NA, I actually had a few people help me with that one. This one I've done solely myself , the only thing icouldnt do myself was pick up the engine. Lol

Granted I do ask questions on here, I do all the physical labor.

It's always nice to hear when people do all of the physical labor themselves, and they are successful. I hate those old threads where the OP asks for help and then the issue is never resolved and the OP never returns.

I do almost all of the work on my car myself...but man, i work on cars all day at work, and sometimes I just don't want to **** with the seven if it's cheap enough.

last time was "Oh, $40 to change my oil, trans oil and diff oil plus the price of the lube? Here, take my money"

It was RP that did that for $40 by the way. I did this right after doing the alternator, fixing the drivers door handle, installing an alarm, remote start, keyless and I was just ******* done with the car for a while.

Aaaand, the door handle broke again, will be messing with that today.

Working on someone else's car isn't as enjoyable as working on your own, especially when you run into problems and get frustrated.

You say you had your trans and diff fluid changed by a shop , i just ordered front and rear transmission seals and ill also be ordering transmission and diff fluid. I've never changed it before so I'm kind of iffy about doing it, not exactly thrilled about it.

Of course when its your car you don't mind doing all the hard work since you're the one who gets to enjoy the car after all the hard work is done.

The same can go for many other things, like watching someone else's children and they're complete brats, don't listen etc..if they were your own children it would be much different since they are your kids.

Remove the fill plug first, you want to make sure that comes out before you drain it.

I agree, I have WAY more patience with my car than with customers cars. Like I said though, when the weekend rolls around, and the car needs some TLC, sometimes I just don't want to **** with it if the labor is cheap. It's not common at all, just once in a blue moon.

In my mind, it's like this...

"I've worked on cars all week, so do I want to do this, or go fishing?"

Sometimes, fishing is the choice.

i changed the trans and diff last time, but that's because i used redline, the engine oil i just have the dealership do (really), its $35 for them to do it, and i don't have to deal with the used oil, so its totally worth it.

i've also had the dealership do a few tires too, they have the tool and i don't...

I was going to use the Neo 75w90 for the trans Ive heard lots of good things about it, last car I used redline not sure what weight.

I have to figure out what to use in the diff, unless I can use the same fluid in the diff as the trans.

You should try using vegetable oil with woodchips mixed in for better engagement.

I'm getting rid of all the emissions stuff so it'll be pretty straight forward , though when I am unsure of things I always do research and ask questions before I go and assume I'm right then I have to do the job twice.
Dude...it's an old car, all the parts are old, some of them are probably not going to work just right. Even with all my experience of working with these cars and parts daily, and even though I am pretty meticulous when I put them together, sometimes even I have issues and have to take it back apart a time or two to fix some stupid issue with a part that I couldn't foresee.

Trust me on this: YOU ARE NOT BUILDING THIS CAR FOR THE LAST TIME EVER. YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE PARTS OF IT APART AGAIN LATER NO MATTER HOW THOROUGH YOU TRY TO BE NOW. You will either have to repair or replace something, change the way that it is set up, or you will want to modify it in some way.

+1. FC's are picky, and there are a lot of parts, there is ALWAYS some little thing that isn't happy on first start up.
