Car wont even start, made a loud pop/bang turning over

i deflooded a few times (taking out fuse and plugs and turning over), nothing it still wont start...

it also made a loud pop/bang sound when i started to turn it over one time, i hope my car is ok im about to go ballistic because im sick of working on this car cuz the more i work on it the worse it gets it seems

edit - the oil pressure also seems like its not building up its not even going up really at all now when i am turning it over , if anything its moving up a hairline

if my motor/ apex seal is toast im goin to be pretty mad but what can i do...

i wish i was professional but if it is toast i guess im learning the hard way after putting over 100 hours of work into my car to drive it 3 times and then have a blown motor

it seems to jump at first like it wants to start when i turn it over (after i deflood by just taking out the egi injection fuse and turning over with it out to deflood) but after that it doesnt seem to watn to start at all

yeah push start it.
Does the "POP" sound was more like a gunshot?
Mine did it one time when flooded.

If it sounds pretty slow cranking you've probrably drained the battery down, if all else fails, try push starting it.

When your engine flooded, it caused a bunch of extra gas to be left hanging out around in your engine (well, probably the exhaust port, whatever), and when you cranked it and ignited all of the gas, it included that. Nothing major. Mine will do it if I over-richen my cranking/startup settings.

Like everyone else said, "Push start it"

its a rebuilt engine tho so the compression is prolly low initially since i just got it started 5 days ago, but usually it would start without really any problems, ive been trying to start it for a while now and it seems like it just keeps flooding

makes me worried that my apex seals are messed up or something, i am charging the battery right now in hopes to get that to get it started

the oil pressure doesnt even seem like it goes up really at all either , at leats it prolly goes like a hairline up maybe 10 psi (assumption), but i dont know what the problem is , it was starting fine earlier , now it seems like it doesnt really want to start much at all...

its acting like it did on the initial startup (1st startup), and that took 3 hours or so to get it started... i hope my motor is ok

edit - it also did that loud pop/bang noise again but i guess it will be ok according to what you wrote

i cant jump start it because its also having issues with reving up or at least it was when it was starting up.... i dont know if these two problems are related or not, but it was starting up then it was idling really crappy like 750 rpms or around there kind of bogging but it was holding, but usually it was set at 1000-1500 rpms(this was the last time i could get it to start), then i shut it off now it doesnt seem to want to start back up again

Pull your two lower plugs and turn it by hand. Listen for 6 solid "puffs" of air. If you have that your motor is probably fine. As for your oil pressure being lower, that often happens when you severly flood the engine. The gas mixes with the oil and thins it out. The more you flooded, the more your oil thins out. That's why all of the unflooding procedures end with "Make sure you do an oil change shortly after getting the car running".

They're supposed to idle at right around 700-800 from the factory, so that might be normal, but if it was running rough, i'd double check your timing. If the bolt that holds the CAS in place came loose, your timing could be too far off to start the car, which would also help with causing the backfires. Once I forgot to tighten my CAS bolt, and about 5 miles from home ont he highway it started running really poorly, and the idle started getting shakey on me. I ended up zip-tying it in place until I got home

Double check your timing.

im pretty sure the motor should be fine , i mean its rebuilt with new apex seals etc from rotary resurrection - kevin landers, and his engines come with a warranty etc.

I did do the timing myself but only by the lineup of the pulleys not with a timing light it does pop sometimes from the exhaust but it mostly likes to do it when its in gear with load on decel

I just dont want to be taking out all this stuff after puttting in 9 months worth of work on the car. I basically have taken out everything in the car other than the tranny back. I replaced all the wiring harness (except the one on the tranny), and all the sensors/relays from a parts car that i bought ..this was a pain especialy doing it all by yourself

one more thing to try: There's an idle mixture control adjustment, you may want to richen up/lean out that..

It's the little flat-headed screw adjustment, that's on the passanger side shock tower (has a little L on the one side, R on the other.. make sure that's roughly centered, then try it again, once its idling, turn that until it sounds happier.. This will only help you with idle once you get the car started, mind you

update , i got it started now ... someone said something about you should change your oil after it gets flooded cuz it thins it out. SHould i be replacing my oil now or no? i mean the oil has only like 5 days on it or about 1 hour of total of driving (5 seperate times 10-20mins each) and about another hour or two of idling time

i was just going to drain it anyways so i can fix my leaky oil filter housing and see what comes out ( i would hope i dont get any big metal shavings or anything like that )

you won't get any big metal shavings (unless you have other, severe problems). But yes, change the oil now, or very soon. you're going to be running around on very thin oil, as I'm sure you'll see when you change it. If it looks okay, let it go, but I'm guessing you'll see oil pour out like its water (or, more correctly, gas).

When you de-flood it, are you putting a little bit of oil in through the spark plug holes to restore your compression before trying to start it?

yes, he pulled both engines and rebuilt it, and then bought a clutch.

Nope..
Typical FC owner.
..after disassembling the engine, and not labeling parts and bolts,..after countless trips to the Hardware store, buying parts on forum, and countless postings of "wtf is this thing and is it important?"..2 cars,3 girl friends and 4 job changes..
Things are Looking UP!!!!!!..
The banging was a cheeseburger plate dropped in the Fan when the car vibrated it into the engine bay!
All that work for nothing.BUT The Factory Service manual is now available online!
..Mowing the lawn next week to find the chassis so the engine can be installed.
(the above is strictly a "premixed induced scenario"..no parts were bought or sold in the making of this post!)

This car I had for about 6 years before I ended up getting rid of it, needless to say it ran fine once I got it going pretty good.

Redlined countless times and there's even a video on youtube.

Now I'm working on a turbo, will be really nice when it's running.

I'll have mine running by next month sometime, I have plenty of time to work on it.

I'm getting rid of all the emissions stuff so it'll be pretty straight forward , though when I am unsure of things I always do research and ask questions before I go and assume I'm right then I have to do the job twice.
