Car will barely start but dies as soon as i press the gas

Background: 86 na no mods.

ive had a strange problem for the last few weeks. I was leaving work one day when all of a sudden i get stopped by a red light, and when i try to go, i have no power, like 1/3 the normal power that the car has, (have to mash the gas to make it move). Then i get to the next light and the car dies. Cannot get it started for the life of me. So i get it towed home, and ive checked compression, (I110 and 120 psi) switched out the maf, vaccuum leaks, fuses, relays, fuel pump, tps. We got it started finally, but it runs like ****, idles at like 400 rpms, and as soon as i give it any gas it dies. Im not sure what else to check this point. Has anyone else experience this kinda problem before? Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Jason

O.K., try cleaning the grounds-one on the rear rotor housing upper surface, one under the trailing coil pack, and the one from the tranny upper surface to the firewall...

That is EXACTLY what my car did when the seal for the 'elbow' opened up.

Check to make absalutely sure that the elbow and the two hoses coming from it are sealed up and connected firmly with no leaks between the AFM and the TB!

I'll back him up on this one. Although, mine was with my old eclipse, but it's the same principle.. what was happening with mine was that there was a nice little tear along it, and when the engine started/slowed down, the engine would move, twisiting the tube, and starving it out for air. The other way for it to go south is that if it opens up it takes in a lot of unmetered air. either way, for the minute and half it takes, and the low cost of duct tape, i'd check it out.
