car turns over, and wants to start, but wont???? shoot me now
i hate this... ive worked on fcs for 6 years now, and i always seem to find something that just makes me scrath my head......ok, heres the deal.. put a good compression motor in a fc i picked up dirt cheap w/ a blown motor... now it turns over.. and when you first crank it, it sounds like its gonna fire... but then goes directly to the basic turn-over sound.... and then stays that way unless i leave the car alone for a little while, then try to restart, which it then does the same thing i described earlier....
1. its not flooding
2. replaced maf, ecu, cas, fuel pump
3. timing is dead on tdc
4. no blown fuses
5. spark plugs are good
any ideas? the only thing i havnt checked was the primary injectors (mainly due to not wanting to pull plenum off again).. im scratching my head so hard on this, my scalp should be bleeding
oh, its a 1988 gxl automatic

Use a stethescope to make sure the primary injectors are functioning when you crank it over.
Some ether sprayed into the intake can often help a flooded car in combination with some oil injected into the spark plug holes.
Make sure the battery is REALLY fresh and/or hook up a charger that has a "start" function.
Excessive premix can sometimes help get a better seal on the initial startup, as can a good help of assembly lube through the plug holes.

:o My bad didnt catch that Aaron. Check your crank angle sensor, mine somehow came unplugged and had the same symptoms as yours, even though your timing is fine, I would still check it.
