How do you test the coil/igniter?

As from my previous post I couldn't get the car running. Now Im not even getting any spark from the fiddling around I did.

Its not the Main Relay. I replaced that and still no spark. Battery still at full charge.

When I have the plugs out of the car neither the leading nor trailing give spark.

Just go down to page 33 and it will give you the procedure to test your coils.

Replace the ENGINE fuse in the interior. A bad ENGINE fuse means no spark and no fuel pump action.

Got a good ENGINE fuse and the EGI fuses are all good? Simple coil/ignitor check is to pull the cas out but leave its plug attached. Key to ON. Sparkplug wire on the fender near a strut stud. Spin the cas's bottom gear rapidly. The sparkplug wire will arc b/t the wire and the stud. Proof positive that the coil ignitor is good. You do this method to keep from draining the batt down (no starter moving) and to keep from wearing the rotor housing out by washing the thing down with gas and thereby washing the oil off the rotor which in turn means LOW compression when you go to start the engine.

No spark and no ffuel pump action? Check for 5vdc ref voltage at the boost/pressure sensors Brown/white wire. Got it. Good, No have 5vdc. Too bad. Either the ECU isn't getting power or the gnds for the ECU are not connected up.

Hmm well fuel pump works. Just no spark. I'll check the engine and EGI fuses though.

thanks for the coil/ignitor test without having to crank the engine. I hope all the cranking ive done hasnt caused the engine much if any damage. *worries*

Thanks for all the info. I haven't even tried fixing anything since my last response. I'll try all this out tonight. Hopefully its not the coils cuase I just don't have the money to buy more. But both of them not getting spark just means it has to be something else.....hopefully.

Tested it out. Turns out it was two things. It was the main relay after all, AND my Leading coil ignitor blew out.

With my old relay I wasn't getting any spark anywhere. Now with the replacement I get spark to my trailing but not my leading coil. Now I just need to get some money to replace it.
