Car turn on then turns off

Hey i just put a cool air intake on my car with orginal hoses. I used a MAFS adaptor. Every thing is attached except for 1 hose in the front, where it connect to orginal air box. Well I go to turn the car on to just test it and it turns on for like 4 secs then dies out. I want to know if its because of that hose or something else. My friend said it could be because of the ECU and it needs to be reset. I was planning to go out and buy a breather for that hose. Also wondering where i can find a hose thats bigger on 1 end but smaller on the other? Thanks

Also my cars an 1988 rx7 convertible

Is your AFM plugged in?

If it is, then you probably have a major leak between the AFM and the throttle body.

And the ECU resets every time you turn the key off on a S4, so your friend doesn't know what he or she is talking about.

When I forgot to plug up the connecter to the AFM my car would start for a few seconds then die. I'd say your problem lies there. And I can't understand some of the things your saying because you're not descriptive enough.

The plug has to be in there pretty snug. Mine was unplugged just a teeny bit and it did the same thing. Make sure it clicks in.
