Car Is Too Loud

This is the current setup

RB Header
RB Pre Silencer
PaceSHITTER Cat-Back

Anyhow, I just got the header on and I've had the cat back for a while. I had a BONEZ pipe before and it was just as loud as it is now. I'm am tired of it and want to silence the damn thing without losing power.

So I need a new cat-back. I am going to put my stock ones back and sell the Pacesetter temporarily. I don't want to spend much more on exhaust and want to sell my current cat-back. Anyone fabricate or have experience with mgnaflow or any other ones?

I have many y pipes in good condition to make something custom. I was thinking about 2 large cheap red cannons(30) bucks and then into some half decent cannons for the very end and buy some tips of choice

Sorry bout the length

Thanks

Well, the Magnaflow will still be loud. The source for the volume of the exhaust is the header. If you want a quiet exhaust, ditch the header. I am runnin a RB header, RB presilencer, and N1 catback. Imagine how luod mine is!!!!

if you go to a catalytic converter setup, make sure you buy the high temp cats. The rotary's exhaust temps are much higher than than a piston engine, and will burn out teh inside of a normal cat. This causes the cats to collapse in on themselvs and resrict your exhaust.

The rules for a quieter exhaust are simple: more mufflers and/or bigger mufflers. The bigger a muffler is externally, the more noise it can absorb. You can fit two pretty big cans under the back of an FC, so utilise all that room. From what I've read in all these NA exhaust threads, off-the-shelf systems seen to be good for power but crap at actually muffling. I'd a custom set-up to get what you want.

NZConvertible is right - the bigger the muffler the quieter the tone will be since there is more surface are for sound absorbtion. Unfortunately, most universal mufflers are rather large in order to be effectively called 'universal'. However, Apexi Dunk mufflers are really big and a lot quieter than most other ones I've heard like X-Tec or HKS.

Get the racing beat cat-back and you will be happy. I am running there header, pre-silencer and cat-back and it isn't to loud.

Don't want the RB Cat-back but does anyone have any universal mufflers on with a similar set up as me.

Another question is if the stock y-pipe is restricitng because of how narow it is?

All of the stock piping/mufflers is restrictive. Too skinny, press bends, mass-production quality! A well made Y will not cause much restriction.

You might want to check out Spin Tech mufflers. (www.spintechmufflers.com) I'm thinking about getting one to use as a prescilencer after I get my RB header. What size pipes are you running out the back? If you are running 2.5 inch or bigger you might want to try running 2.25 inchers. That will also quiet it down a bit. If you end up trying out the Spin Techs let me know 'cuz I'm curious as to how it will sound off the rotary.

I was at a dyno when a FD with DP/MP/N1 got on, after 4K, it kinda made you blink, and felt like your ears were going to start bleeding. Fawking cool!

I have a Bonze 2.5" downpipe to a high flow bonez cat then to my ApexI N1 Duals.

Yeah, that is loud. You can't carry on a normal conversation at idle behind the car. When crusing on the highway for long periods you should wear hearing protection. Unless you like that ringing in the ears sort of thing.

But with silencers in there. It is nice. It is like a normal car with the windows up

Silencers where? In your ears? jj, unless you could be serious. You could easily have a converstaion behind mine unless you die from the exhaust first.

After 3 g's it is a chainsaw and a loud on at that. I let my friend take it out for a spin. I heard him coming up this small street like 2 blocks away. I think I'm going to put the 2 biggest mufflers I can find to fit those spaces. Anyone know of any that are hollow but and not glass packed so they don't burn out like mine have already. Something like a stainless steel mesh?

The silencers go into the tail pipes. There is a small hole to put a bolt and nut there to hold it in.

Basicly it makes my 4.5" tail pipes come down to a 2" hole.
