Car stuck in reverse

Unhappy Car stuck in reverse

Ok well, my shifter is in the nuetral position, but the car goes in reverse, i cannot put it into 3,4,5, or reverse. if i put it in 1st or second it just stalls. New tranny? you tell me. thank you

Sounds like bent shifting rods. Was you banging gears ?

You don't have to rebuild the whole thing...thats good..you just need new rods...

well it was sitting there, and my friend was messing with it. pretending he was as good as a driver as me...=).... then i got in it to leave and it was all messed up

also... when i was under the car i saw a lot of oil under the car comming out near the driveshaft... no where near the engine but near the drive shaft so maybe it was laeaking gear oil...and then something went wrong... feedback

yea, well im getting a new tranny, levi has one. so i hope this will fix it all.

Keep or sell the old one. Dont just toss it.
You or others may need the input shaft, bearings, syncros, etc.

And have your friend keep away unless he has an advance security deposit!

i ran into chris today and he told me someone was doing a tranny job well i guess i found out who was.... lol....
i have a thing i got to do on saturday @6pm but about 8 or 830 maybe even 9 ill be up and running with betty...

Well ill get everything figured out. ill just have to ride with other people until i can pick up the tranny. it also means no 1320 my car breaks or sumthin happens every 1320, last time i worked, time b4 that clutch, now this. o well next time

#1.. Check your tranny fluid. Low to no tranny fluid will certainly cause probs.

#2 Do your tranny return spring and bushings still work? It is quite possible there is some broken crap down in the shifter area blocking it from going into certain gears.. I had that prob on my old 86.. I would just have to band it in and out of gears to move whatever piece of crap was blocking it out of the way.

my bushings are good, i changed em last month. and for fluid im pretty sure there is some at least, i know it leaked, but not bad. But my car is in nuetral and goes backwards. i have heard many people say shift fork

Did you replace the pilot bearing when you replaced your clutch Derek?

I could not get in to gear when my pilot bearing was shot..... that may be your problem.
