car starts, runs for 5 seconds and dies.. need help.
ok so i am driving around enjoying my car not hesitating over 3800 rpms.. ahhh... so i notice that my gas is getting real low (right on the E) so i pull off to get some gas. i fill up at citgo with 93 and walk over to the autozone (right next door) and buy some tcw3(or whatever its called) two stroke premix. i start the car up before the premix to make sure everything is cool.. the car starts and idles for about 2 or 3 seconds, then fuel cuts off and the car dies. i can immediately start it back up and the same thing happens... someone help... i thought that it could be my fuel filter clogged, but that wouldn't explain me being able to start the car right back up... any ideas?

Not very hard core.....but try jumpering that yellow fuel check connnector near the right strut tower and see what happens. That will bypass the sw in the afm and eliminate that as a cause.
If that does not work try putting a meter on the large blue wire at the fuel pump connector and see how long the pump is staying on after you start the car, or if it ever comes on. Kinda junk answers of the top of my head. Later.
Might make a quick check of the fuses on the third row from the bottom (in the car). I think its the second or third fuse over from the left as you look into the fuse box.

my car started doing the same thing last week and I can't figure out what the problem is. Last sat I was rolling up to a light and my car shut of then I started it up and it did it everytime I let it drop to where it would normally idle. It will start up right a way but it dies soon after it runs if you stay on the gas it doesnt build any boost. If you figure it out or if you have any suggestions let me know.
I bought the car (87 TII) last friday and this happend the following day late at night. I drove the car home from va to pa and it was fine despite starting hard. I checked all my vac lines and the intake pipes. could it be the injectors, because after i try to run it you can smell alot of gas and there seemed to be some gas ontop of the housing near the fuel rail

well, tjat sounds similar to my problem. However, whether i hold the gas in or not, the fuel gets cut for some reason and the rpms just totally drop off the face of the earth. I can start the car and it will idle for 2 or 3 seconds, then bam, no more fuel. i checked all the fuses and all of the are in tact. HAILERS: i couldn't find this "yellow connector" you told me to jumper. i found no yellow connectors anywhere. the car is still sitting at citgo
