Car Not Turning Over!

87 gxl

Hey sup guys- so I swapped the motor for an 88 and have a 87 manual transmission in there and a new manual starter, (it works supposely) and swapped the pedals and did everything basically right.....or did I?

We tried firing it on, and nothing.....so check it- When I was swapping the pedals, I had to remove everything, not literally but I removed some things under the steering wheel and all but after I screwed everything back in and went to turn the key to the on position for whatever reason, a loud buzzer came on from under the steering wheel- WTF?!

Could I have possibly not have connected something back up under the steering wheel correctly?

Or am I way off for that not being the reason for it not starting? The warning buzzer never came on before and nothing on my Idiot Lights came on.....any idea?

Unless you were doing a 5 speed swap, there's no reason as to why you'd be replacing the pedals. What were you doing under there?

Are your lights coming on? Is the car getting power but not turning over?

did you do anything with the instrument cluster??? did you have an auto and now going to a manual i know the wiring is slighty different for the auto instrument cluster i dont know if that would be the cause but maybe i switch 2 wires in my instrument cluster and the buzzer stayed on till i hit the high beams and then went off apparently there the same color wires and mazda didnt find it necissary to label sizes of wires.. hooking the speedo cable up twice sucked.. well goodluck

now what do you mean the wiring is somewhat different? Im going to put my s4 automatic cluster back in but i also got that cable for the 5 speed to hook back into the cluster and that buzzer never came on even after i swapped the cluster back in november!

Check the starter interlock switch at the clutch pedal.

why would you need to mes with wires? I did a 5speed swap about three years ago on an 87 and I dont remember messing with any wires under the dash. Only thing was that my reverse lights switch didnt work. It was either always on or never on

edit: unless you were trying to use the clutch switch which I didnt...
