Unhappy Car is not feeling/sounding good.....

My RX is really feeling sloppy right now.
The first thing to come up was/is that at times when I take the car out of gear the rpms stay around 2000-2500. A quick push of the throttle will settle it down to the 750 rpm area. It happens on occassions. Might a tune up take care of it? I've had the car since mid-March and the guy did a tune-up (from what he told me) before he sold it to me.
The other thing that is more annoying is I have a grinding/rotating noise coming from the rear end (it sounds like it is coming from that area) when I am in gear and coasting, or to a stop or in reverse and accelerating. If I push the clutch in when the car makes the noise, it will stop right away until I take my foot off of it.
It was suggested by someone to check the driveshhaft u-joints and the differential mount. Anyone have any other suggestions before I check this stuff out over the weekend?

Thanks in advance.

My driveshaft did the same when it started going bad. What happens is that when you are coasting in gear or accelerating, the torque on the driveshaft causes the parts of the ujoints to rub together harder thus creating a grinding noise. When you push the clutch in, there is no longer torque on the driveshaft and it stops making noise.

If that were so....wouldn't I be able to hear the noise on a constant basis as I am driving, since torque would be applied to the driveshaft?

Grinding/ squeaking/ clunking noises are hard to diagnose over the interweb, but the high idle after driving and what not sounds like one of two things to me.....1. your TPS is not set correctly and needs adjustment.... OR your BAC valve is going bad or is bad.... check them both and i bet the problem will go away.
