car idles like crap.
Got my car started yesterday. Would start but then die if you didnt' hold the gas. I figured today I would fix that.
I read that to adjust it you turned the screw on the TB. I did this. I turned it clockwise (tightening it). I turned it a lot and now the car idles but very low. I don't have a working tach but it sounds like its at about 400 rpms or so. What else can I do to adjust idle.
car: 87 TII

pour some mmo strait through the top vaccum hose, but be quik or the car will stall when you take the hose off. and put some in your gas, that should help somewhat
Good luck

Turn the screw out (left) to adjust the idle higher.
if you can't figure out what the idle problem is, and you drive this car daily, tighten the throttle cable linkage just a tad.
It will be as if your foot is just barely on the throttle. If you tighten it just right you can sustain a 900-1000 rpm idle.
That's not really the best way to solve your problem, but as a temporary fix if you need to get around, there is your solution.

Listen i had the same problem when i got my FC. Very important, take it to an auto shop now and get the fuel injectors flushed. Main thing is to get both the main injectors and the throttle body flushed. Hopefully only costs around 50-60 $. Then get your belts checks cause thats damn important. And then replace your spark plugs. That helps alot. Ohh yah and i almost forgot, make sure the air intake is plugged in correctly. After market intakes not installed correctly causes this. Make sure its in right. And also theres a switch that is on the turbo that doesnt allow the car to start sometims and causes it to turn off like that. Take it to an auto shop and they should be able to fix this.

1.Check You Timming
2.Replace Your Plugs and Wires(Remember you have Trailing and Leading plugs)
3.Check Your TPS (Throttle Postion Sensor) WEBSITE BELOW.

4.Adjust the Idle Screw Counter Clockwise - see if that helps first.
5.Check your Rotor Compression

Thanks for that info ViperDude, I am pretty sure now though that I have a few Vacuum leaks to work out. I got a silicon braided vacuum hose kit from hosetechniques.com. That should fix most of my problems. Thanks.
