car idles fine but cant rev up

Angry car idles fine but cant rev up

i have a 1987 rx7 non turbo " i know non turbo yuk yuk w.e" i have just put 800$ into it to get it running again "fuel pump, fuel filter, injectors, spark plugs and wires." and i got it to idle good and you can rev it up very slowly, but if you stomp on the gas it either sputters and pops or it just dies... can anyone help plz!! oh ya the compression is good .i got it tersted...

hey the same thing happened to me when i put my engine back in. my problem was the spark plug wires were on the wrong rotor number. check if they are right.

Very likely your AFM signal could be bad. I've had that happen to me twice, the first time the AFM crapped out and the second time (yesterday ironically) when a couple wires on the plug broke. Any time I gave it more than a hair of gas, it would be like the fuel cut off, and I couldn't nudge it past 4.5k in neutral without it kicking and sputtering into an rpm wall.

Doubt it's your TPS sensor, otherwise you'd be fine with wide open throttle.

haha how can i check the afm thingy lol sry kinda new at rotary and if its bad where can i get a new one or can i get it fix't thx alot!!

also me and a friend were tinkering with it one day and it looked like there were a could air piston things werent opening or something and we covered the intake with a folgers lid and pojed a few holes into it and it started running just fine... and also if we sprayed either or carb cleaner into it, it would rev up easily...
