car floods; not injector, fuel regulator? What else?

car floods; not injector, fuel regulator? What else?
1988 Convertible with a TII ENGINE.
The fuel pressure regulator got changed 2K miles ago and not it floods again!
I took it back to the shop and they said they checked the fuel regulator, and injectors (by checking the fuel pressure) and they said they havn't found any leaks.
The car has been there a week now with no luck.
Are they trying to hide a bad fuel regulator that they changed cuz they dont want to do it for me for free or is there ANYTHING else that could cause flooding.
Please list the things that need to be checked that could cause flooding so I can tell the mechanic to check those.

Any smoke coming out the back? Is it blue or white? Blue then your oil injectors might be leaking and need to be replaced. If it's white then your coolant seals are gone and you need to rebuild.

it floods after driving it around for a while and turning the car off. Then, when you go to start it won't start off. I changed the spark plugs 1 month ago, and then when the car flooded and i pulled the spark plugs out, they were black again! Would gas cause them to turn black?
I know if you rev the engine high it misfires...
Oil injectors...hummn....that could be it.
Smoke comes out the first 30 seconds of a cold start, and then clears up, but as soon as you turn the car on you smell gas, inside the car, and really strong gas smell out the exhaust....i'm thinking its because i'm running so rich. Thats why i'm eager to get the damn turbo ecu i got from a member on here so i'll see if it still runs rich.
Another thing to add....i get really really bad gas milage...like 10-12 mpg.....

mazda plus put in a fuel cut off switch so whenever it floods i use it so no fuel goes in and i crank the engine so it burns all the wasted full up then that solves the problem for me

If I were you Peyman, I'd pull the green fuse, crank it, then replace the fuse and see if it starts. If it starts, the injectors are leaking The only way fuel gets into the rotors is through the injectors. I don't know how the mechanics in the shop are checking it and I care not to speculate.

mine does too
mine does the same exact thing. ive got a 88 t2. but when mine runs it runs perfect, my exhaust is clear, it dont smoke at all. it starts right up when cold.?? hmm my service manual says its got whats called a (hot start assist system) in the ecu??

Have the injectors ever been prof cleaned? If not chances are they are not spraying like new. Which will cause this problem. The first thing you need to do is have them cleaned then install the TII ECU. I would also change the oil and clean the sparkplugs

well i have changed the oil. its been sitting for quite some time.. can driving it make it any better?? umm mine is a tII dont it have a tII ecu??

Hot start assists only works After the engine starts up. It increases the fuel pressure for ???? 50seconds or so.
If your having difficulty starting it up, then install a fuel cut switch and see if that helps ...or not. What? A buck fifty for a switch? That's assuming you first set the timing using a timing light and changed the Lead sparkplugs and still have the problem.
IF any of the above are series five cars, you deflood by holding the pedal to the floor while cranking the engine over. That act kills the fuel injectors output but keeps the spark. Hence......no more fuel injected while cranking, unlike a series four.

well ive drove it around awhile. drives fine. well ive pulled the fuel rail before, no fuel leaks down? ive read some articles about the coolant sensor being faulty can cause this problem. i really dont have to crank but a few seconds it will fire once or twice and i can tell its flooded. if i do the unplug the fuel pump trick a few times, it will eventually start and " run fine" again.
