The Mazda wiring grounds may be cheezy, but a harness short is rare.

What shorted?

Don't know havent looked at it but my uncle fixed it. No time to work on it Finals. Looking at the GB for the SVH kit. This january im buying another RX but this one will have a rebuild and it's a GXL so i don't want to put money in my soon to be parts car. Very Excyting though. Fire was all around the fuel rail and caught some vaccume hoses on fire. It still ran after the fire but was running really rich. You could smell the gas comming out of the exhaust.

Check the pulsation damper for leaking fuel. That's a fairly typical cause of fires in these cars. A short may have touched off the fuel.

Can you show me diagrams or direct me to diagrams of the Pulsation damper. If not my uncle has a chilton's book that probably does. What do you do the Pulsation damper when it leaks? tighten it, replace it???

*SLAP* you can remove it, but why did Mazda put it on there if it didnt serve a purpose? it lessens the pulses that happen when the injectors turn on/off. It might not hurt if you remove it, but it will wear on your injectors, whther you'll tell a difference, i dont know. think of it this way though, the first one lasted over 15 yeaars, getting another one cant be that bad since it will probably last at least half that...

Go to the FC FAQ at the top of this forum section, find the link to the factory service manuals and download a copy of the manual for your model. It will show you just about everything you need to know about the car, now and in the future. You will need it.
