In-car engine volume with RB torque brace

Has anybody who's installed RB's torque brace noticed an incread in interior noise?

I installed the thing yesterday (less one bolt, so it's not even sturdy, I'll be picking one up at home depot later), and it seemed fine yesterday...but I also had the windows open.

This morning, as soon as I went to start it, the engine noise in the cabin is freakin loud. If I open the window, it sounds like it always does, however.

I'm guessing this is normal?

Shouldn't really notice much if any increase in interior noise.
You will however notice the increase in vibrations.

He said torque brace. Not strut tower bar. On a related note when I intsalled my torque brace I didnt notice any difference in noise.

yeah, this has nothing to do with strut tower bar.

I'm wondering if something is messed up inside the engine bay...hehe, I probably forgot to bolt something somewhere. But yeah, it's odd, it's definitely louder in the cabin now... Sounds like there's a hole in my firewall, almost.

There should be a rubber isolator at one end of the brace with no direct metal-to-metal contact.

Maybe you have a washer covering the vibration isolator?
Any other engine-to-body solid metal-to-metal contact?

hmm...on the firewall side, it's direct metal-to-metal. I have no rubber bushing, nor was one mentioned in the driections.

That would certainly make sense, however. I'm figuring that's where the noise is coming from.

to stiffen up chassis, a fellow sarasota rx7 owner nice to see that. Lawerence, do you know someone with a black s4 vert in sarasota? Mine looks just the same, I was driving by and he honk'd and waved so I'd see tha we had the same exact cars.

I had a lot of noise when I installed mine and it traced back to the washers that hold the rubber bushing.

On my car the edge of the washers just touched the fire wall. A firm pull of the bracket away from the firewall gave me just enough clearance to prevent them from touching the firewall.

I seem to recall that the bar can be very close to one of the tabs on the firewall. Nothing should touch the brace or bar except the tip at either end of the bar.

man, just about everything hits my bar! The hose coming out of the brake master cylinder presses firmly against the bottom of the bar... The clutch fluid tube is kinda touching, too. The brace that holds the brake master cylinder is also pressing against the top of the bar. I just went outside during lunch and tried to bend that up and off the bar.

I'll check out those bushings near the "horseshoe", too, later. Thanks for the idea...that could certainly be an issue, too.

We should definitely meet up soon. My buddies 180 is temporarily out of order. We should get together for a cruise, and a bite to eat

RB said that increased noise may be due to overtightening of the brace. this transfers all engine vibration to inside the cabin.
