car doesnt start help!

so i have a t2 and the guy who sold it to me put some wierd kill switch wannabe thing where has a switch on or off to feed the car power. i disconnected it to the fuse box and now the car just cranks and then screeeches, whereas before i had to crank, flip switch on to feed power, and feed it some gas(which is bad) but thats the sequence i had to do to get the car on....can anybody point me to the right direction please.

Did he say why the switch was installed. Prevent the car from being lifted perhaps. How was this switch connected to the fuse box? How many wires and where did they connect to. Which fuse was it wired to.

seems like the switch is to turn on the injectors after you have the car cranking so that it doesn't flood the motor.....put the switch back......does it start up? the screech could be your belts.......

If it was wired to the interior fuse box then the only fuse there that would prevent the injectors from turning on would be the Engine fuse, but that fuse controls the Circuit Opening relay as well, which controls the fuel pump.

Which to me would explain why hes having to crank, flip it,and pump the throttle to get it to fire off originally. Sounds like a ghetto band-aid to a bad flooding problem. Is it flooded?

If your car is an S4 then there are two EGI fuses in the engine fuse box, one being the EGI Comp fuse while the other is the EGI INJ fuse. Sounds like your starting problem would be related to the Water Thermosensor located on the back of the water pump, which regulates how much fuel the injectors releases into the car upon start up. Measuring the voltage w/key to on at Pin 2I of the ECU will tell you if the sensor is within spec. When the engine is warm, pin 2I will read between .4 to 1.8 volts and the hotter the engine coolant the lower the voltage reading. Because of hot start problems some will use a fuel cut switch to prevent too much fuel from being used when starting the car but your set up doesn't sound proper at all.

You need to test it to see if it is a cause for your car being difficult to start.
