OR car dies with clutch in and in neutual when stopped

My 88 NA vert just started having this problem today. A few days ago, every once a while when I start the car it idles very low and the car dies, until I give a little gas to rev it up a bit in neutual and it will catch up on the rev and everything will be fine.

But today I was sitting at the stop light but once I push the clutch in to shift to first, the car died. Then it kept happening everytime I come to a stop and as soon as I stop the car while push in the clutch or put it in neutual, it dies. I had to pull the E brake at a stop and just rev it in neutaul to wait for my green so the car doesn't die in traffic.

Also, I have heard some squeaky sound when I push in the clutch.

could it be a bad clutch? any help would be apperaciated.

Thank you!

It's probably just a vacuum leak or metered air leak. Check around the intake tube, and look for uncapped nipples, etc... You can also spray carb cleaner around the intake to see if engine speed increases. If it does, there is a leak nearby.

Thanks for the help, rotaryrocket. what is the "metered air leak" you were talking about? Sorry I am still learning all the terms used in the forum.

I checked around the intake and found out the little rubber part that directly attaches to my air mass flow sensor on top of intake is cracked. Could that be the problem?

Thanks
