Car Died In the drive thru
Last night while waiting for a dollar menu double cheesburger @MCD's my car start to do the sput put put sound then I place in gear and started to pull off ...and BAM she died. So I tried to start her up again....she cranked up but then died again. It did this several times, and died each time. So then I let it sit for a while and she cranked right up. I raced home as fast as possible so I could trouble shoot. The only thing thats was appearently wrong was my coolant was low. But the wonderful pain in the *** add coolant buzzer didn't come on. SO I added coolant and no problems...but it's still because my coolant level wasn't that low. Now today I drove to work and no problems what so ever....ANY IDEA"S OR WHAT?
Thanks

could have been mild flooding.....or a faulty connection in there somewhere....it could be several things. I would just start with the basics....fuel, air, spark....you need all three of these so I would do the basic checks. Get a Haynes manual if you do not have one already and read the hell out of it......
Double check all your connections too....sometimes a wire just wiggles enough to lose contact for a second....

the 86 Rx7 has a bad fuel pump there is a valve inside it that keeps your fuel lines pressurized well this valve is no good it causes them to flood. most people just remove this valve but be careful if you put the pump back together wrong it will starve the engine.
Also another reason any Rx7 will flood is if you have bad injector o rings.
A quick fix while your sitting in the drive thru is to disconect the injectors (white connection next to the crank angle sensor) turn the engine over a few cranks and then reconnect the plugs and it should start right up.
if it turns out that the pump is not your problem it will be some day they all do it eventually.

an even quicker way is to unplug the fuel pump relay under the dash to the right of the steering column. then try and crank it while it is unplugged...it should fire up. but if not do the harder longer unflooding procedure

the FSM says that fuel is cut when cranking at WOT so there is no reason to remove the EGI fuse. For an S5 at least. I have not tested this, since I have an S4.
