TX car cough fire... what is this.....

So i had my cars gas leak fixed and later that night went for a drive and it started smoking!! then i smelt that wire burning smell, pulled over popped the hood and put the fire out!! it melted a few wires but i cant seam to find out what these wires are for! the cheap little repair manual i have doesn't have the best detail on the wiring. here some pics of what got torched!! the hood has some nice burns on it too.

I can take a guess and say the fuel leak was fixed but some fuel possibly puddled up and eventually leaked down (lets say some sort of turning right caused the puddle to shift) and hit the exhaust manifold igniting it right around those wires.

May be wrong, just what I picture happening.

no the leak was fixed drove it home and got an inspection done took about an hour all together it ran the whole time nonstop! drove it home let it sit for about 3-4 hours stated it up about 10pm or so, i didn't ever get it out of the neighborhood and it started smoking that's when it all went down, it ran for about min befor that all happend. i dint know if some wires got cut when getting worked on, and they just shorted out, that's what I'm thinking happend. that or the wires were dry rotted and jsut gave. but all other wiring looks great! guess im gana have to start carrying a fire extinguisher with me lol!!

yeah, sounds like a short. are you just going to replace the burnt parts and track down the possible short?
