Car builds zero boost and smokes. Blown turbo?

I was cruising to my parents house tonight and decided to hit 14psi(have supporting mods). As soon as I let off the throttle went limp. I could rev the car up and down and it idled fine but the car Never goes over zero psi.

I got to my parents house and it started to backfire pretty bad and smoke started to pour out the exhaust in huge amounts.

I pulled the TID off and the turbo spins freely and there is no oil on the compressor.

My guess is I've toasted the turbo and something is causing it not to spool or maybe oil control rings???

It idles fine at 1k and revs fine. It just doesn't build boost and smokes like crazy.

I smelled the smoke it it's most likely oil. It didn't smell sweet or like raw gas.

I'm borrowing a S5 turbo tomorrow and am going to replace it and see what happens. I'm really hoping it's turbo only. I am racing at Phoenix raceway on saturday and drifting it on sunday.

If the turbo spins fine and there is no oil on it then that is not your problem. Did you check shaft play? If you can move it enough to make the blade touch the housing then it is bad.

It really sounds like something catastrophic, do a compression test before you swap the turbo.

I think I blew the turbo.

Here's why:
Stock S5 turbo
10 psi normally but I can push 15 in the winter
Izusu NPR FMIC and 2.5 inch piping

I think 15psi on the stock turbo with more volume and density to pressurize killed it.

I just spun the turbo by hand it it's got side play and I can hear a rubbing from the hotside wheel.

I just borrowed another S5 turbo and will install it tomorrow. Then I'll drop my MBC down to 10psi or remove it to run stock with boost creep.

Before you put a new turbo in, port the wastegate! You're just asking to destroy another one if you keep letting it reach 15 psi.

All of my S5 turbos were ported but I have no time to port this one.

I'm racing Phoenix raceway saturday and sunday and my dremil broke last week so I can't port it myself and most places aren't open tomorrow. Although I'll give Arizona Rotary Rockets a call to see if Glen can port it for me.

I damaged my ported S5 turbo at 18psi. Once I got the boost down to 12 psi, the turbo still slowly got worse.

I was still able to build boost, but there was oil in my intercooler piping coming off the compressor. (not in the TID)

You can just swap the hotsides if you can't port the new one.
