Angry car barely starts when it starts engine races to 5000rpm and then dies

i havea 87 rx7 turbo, i just put in a j-spec turbo engine from japan... and i hooked up my old wire harness to the engine... i also put on block off plates and plugged up all the vacuum hoses... My problem is that at first it takes a long time to start the car and the one way i got it started once was by spraying some starting fluid in the intake manifold... not alot just like a sec hold... cause i heard its not good at all for the engine ... but anyways... the car started but i notice that it reved up to 5000 rpm and will go as high as 6000rpm... i would press the gas and it would rev up to the highest 6800rpm and thats it after a while of hitting the gas the car would die... and then it wouldn't start up again.. i do the atf trick and the car would smoke like crazy when starting but only jump too 1000rpm and then die... i dont know what the problem might be... i got new spark wires and ignition and coils.. do i need new spark plugs or what ?? please somebody help me lol ive been like this since may... and i just want to put my head through the wall.. but i dont think thats to much of a good idea so im asking here

I would check the trottle cable/assembly because something is keeping it in an open position. Also check to see if the cable is to tight and holding the trottle open. This is a mechanical issue, this has happened to me b4.

I know a constantly rising RPM can also be due to the TPS going bad... try disconnecting it.. it would probably also throw an engine code though, that's why I doubt it's that... but it's a possibility you should at least get out of the way.
