Question Car alarms

Just wondering if there are any Car alarms that plug into the Stock Harness.
OR what the best out there for the 7's would be.

There's nothing that plugs directly in, but its very easy to interface an aftermarket one with the stock alarm or to use the stock harness.

I hate aftermarket alarms...spent about 5 hours attempting to get my car to run, found a giant *** clifford rats nest under my passengerside dash, and when i ripped all that out and reconnected the ignition wires, it fired right up. Had a fuel pump shutoff in it somewhere...stupid alarm...Great if you dont want your car stolen, bad if the last owner set it off before he sold it to you.

I was working on my car putting a new speedo on. ANd some idiot wired teh starter directly into the ignition. So i cut the cable not knowing what it was. I am going to rewire that same line and put a toggle switch so i can turn it off and on. So that could be an alternative to your kill switch or an extra thing to do.

I love my viper the only problem is I payed out the *** for it and it only has one sensor. It's and extra $100 to get proxy sensors installed but its worth it. Viper is the only alarm system that holds true to its range distance.

Viper, Clifford, Python, Hornet, Sidewinder are all currently made by DEI and are fine alarms, that I would recommend.

Alpine's Japanese built alarms are also excellent (but don't mix them up with the Chinese made Alpines that are crap).

But as I have posted many many times, the actual system is only 25% of the security system. That th installation is by far the most important part regardless of brand system you pick.

yes. i have a clifford matrix that came with my car. the guy did a HORIBLE job on the instaltion.. all the wires are RIGHT there by my feet.. abbove where the power steering Computer was or is.. i need to find a passagnger side harness and switch it out. and have it reinstalled. * Professionaly.*

i dont even use it becuase its sucked soo bad.. it only went off for 30seconds then shut off.. ? and my friends would pound on my car to get my alarm to go off and half the time it didnt even go off.. so right now im just using the stock alarm. better then nothin.. * ithink it works just fine.. *

*OH i forgot to mention.. the guy installed it and didnt even disconnect the Factory alarm.* which didnt work then when i had the Clifford. working but when i stoped using it. the factory alarm started working.. it was wierd.. but the aftermarket alram did set the factory alarm off a few times.. ? dont know what they guy was thinking..

Almost all security systems would ignore a 2nd input like that for 30 seconds or until the trigger stopped going off. Most better systems will also ignore a trigger for 60 minutes that has a tigger 3 times within an hour to prevent falsing from a bad sensor and draining a battery.

So in that case it sounds like a loose nut behind the wheel that didn't know how the system works

Again, your comments show a loose nut behind the wheel that just doesn't have a clue to how the systems should work.

You should never ever ever disable the factory system. It should work in conjuntion with the stock system. You should be able to arm them both seperate.

I hear viper is pretty good and also lo jack but i have had my car stolen it was stolen last year 2 days before thanksgiving and i didnt have an alarm on my car so when i got it back i went and go some cheap alarm for about 80 bucks just to hold me over but what im going to do is get a detachable steering wheel and a lojack or viper that way i can take my steering wheel out of the car everytime i get out and that works as a theft deterent system because you cant drive a car without a steering wheel

ya thats true but with the alarm from viper that calls you when someone either brakes in tampers with your car with out your authorization or messing with your car it calls all your phones house cell work and sends you a email and pages you to let you know im not saying just go and get a detachable steering wheel but get it with a nice alarm that way you know if someone towes it its going to take a while i read in a magazine that when ever you park somewhere turn your wheels all the to the right if you parked at a curb or both ways if your pakrked near cars that when when they try to towe it the car turns and no one is going to towe a car with the wheels turned and locked my cousin taught me that as well people where always trying to steal his cars and he would always turn the wheel so when they tried to towe it , it was hard to do im not saying it cant be done but you can make it hard for the thief

if someone wants your car bad enough they can get it. they can just pop the hood and cut the battery cable. you can run the alarm off another battery and hide the brain though. i also heard it is good to get multiple sirens.

you say no one car steal a car that does not have a steering wheel but i'm willing to bet money that most people who are really wantin to steal a car an not just playin around will first scope out your car an if all your doing is taking off your steering wheel that can easily be fixed i'm not a thief but i could do it a got a steerin wheel just sittin on a shelf as would any junk yard

So in that case it sounds like a loose nut behind the wheel that didn't know how the system works
how would this be me being a lose nut behind the wheel and not knowing how to arm them both..

the factory alarm arms when doors are locked.. they get set off when the door is unlocked with out a key.. * the aftermarket alarm unlocked the door with out a key. * so basicly the factory alarm thought someone was unlocking the car from the inside of the car.. meaning it was not me being a loose nut.. ?

No, the factory alarm arms, by locking the door from the inside while the door is open. It does not arm by just locking the doors.

It does not arm just when the doors are locked.

As far as if you have keyless entry added on, then to disarm both the factory security system and the aftermarket system, you would have to run a diode over from the unlock signal of the aftermarket alarm to feed into the key sense unlock wire.
