car alarm
hi guys.....does any one have problems with their car alarm just going off at random? this is a problem that's really bothering me along with my other car problem...my car alarm just goes off sometimes...even when nothing is done to it...i think it's factory alarm...i lock the door and wait 5 min rite next to the car....the alarm goes off....it's been really bothering me....does anyone know how to turn off the alarm or disable it altogether? i have a 91' n/a
oh yea and if i turn the key into open position and then to lock position for the door...the alarm usually doesn't go off...only if i do that.....and that's usually like 95% of the time....on some cases even after doing that.......it still goes off....

You can unplug the control box that is under the glove box. I had the same problem with mine. I ended up actually taking the small metal box out, removing the alarm system control, and putting in a control box for my remote entry system.
My car is an 87 but I'm sure it should be pretty much the same for you. Just make sure you make sure your car runs after disconnect before you take the box out if you decide to take it out completely.

as covered before (hint- you may wish to search first), if the stock system is triggering, the majority of the time it is related to the interior door latch/lock switch, being dirty or out of alignment. This is the latch that you move down to lock the car when you are inside.
Occasionally they system can also trigger if the hood is not aligned correctly or the rear hatch drains are plugged and water is seeping inside.
However Chimeron's reply will not help you as there is no dedicated alarm/security box on the S5 (89-92) models. The factory alarm is integrated with the CPU in the drivers kick panel, so you must fix the problem, instead of just unplugging your way out of the issue.

yikes I didnt' know that...
is there an output wire that triggers the horns? must be.
can I splice this to wire up another after market siren? (with a relay of course.)
or are the horns just activated inside the cpu with the same wire as the horn button??
cause having a 130db pizzo siren inside the car go off while pressing the horn would not be cool!!

dam now home looking at FSM. one wire comes outa the cpu to the horns for both button and alarm.
you could probably do it on the s4 if it's a different box.
