I usually do lock my door from the the inside but I have also tried to lock it with the keys. Once to push the button down inside the car you hear a couple little beeps like setting the alarm. When I go to unlock it is when the alarm goes off. Thats all fine but I can't get it to turn off without unhooking the battery. I've started it and drove it with the alarm going off.I've tried unlocking from every door there is including the hatch. So now I'm going to take the door off and look for the parts of the above mentioned post..Thanks for all who have helped in this matter... Rita

Does anybody actually read these?? Its when I use my key to unlock the door that it goes off!! It doesn't go off when it shouldn't. It just doesn't shut off when I use my key to unlock my door. So right now I'm just not locking my door. I tried unlocking WITH my key both doors, the hatch, so I decided to give up until I take the door panel off that was earlier suggested to me. Of course I used my key. Thats when it happened. But thanks anyway. I realize every car is different I was just hoping to buy maybe a remote for it so I wouldn't have to go through all this. But no biggie. I'll get to it someday. I love this car. I bought it at a car auction for 150.00 almost two years ago. Sure I've had trouble but nothing for what I paid. Its been a great running car...I would love to buy another one someday. Thanks all who helped out. Rita

Do you have a turbo timer installed? Sometimes these can mess with your alarm

I have no idea what is installed or where its installed at. I went to a shop and they told me it must be factory cuz they couldn't find any add-ons but mazda said they didn't come with alarms that year. 1987..Alls I know is that the horn honks, and the lights flash up and down when I open the door after I lock it...Rita

My alarm started going off today as I was driving back from the dealership after buying it.

I guess that would explain all the electrical tape under the panel below the glove box. >< Now to see if I can figure out how to turn this sucker off so I can actually drive it around...
