Cant tell if I have ABS.

Like I said, I can't tell whether or not I have ABS. I searched the stickied thread on the forum but can't read the tiny writing. I was looking through mazdatrix parts and noticed that I have a sensor leading out of the BMC resevoir. Does that mean I don't have ABS, or it being that its an original 87 TurboII, was ABS standard?

Help me know what to look for please.

ABS wa an option. Look in the engine bay on passenger side. If you have ABS, there will be the large ABS motor back by the firewall.............Can't miss it.
No motor, no ABS.

also you have a extra line in your wheel well, the brake line and an electical line that goes to the speed sensor.

No motor, no ABS.
And this motor should be located on the firewall next to? BMC?

It'd be below the wiper motor and have a rat's nest of brake lines going in/coming from...seriously, if you have it, you'd know.

can you see your air control valve? then you don't have it. the brake master cylinder reservoir with non ABS is also a perfect rectangle, the ABS one isn't quite, it has a slightly larger raised portion for additional capacity.

drive fast, slam on brakes. If you have ABS (and it's functioning) you'll feel it.

My brakes took a complete dump on me and don't want to work. Not too sure if driving fast and slamming on the brakes would help me out at the this point. I was going to replace the master and booster all at once and be done with it wasn't sure what the equipment looked like.

Also, for those of you who've had to change out the hydraulics what did you go with? Oem? Autozone/Pepboys/Advancedauto, or some retailer online? I just picked up a new clutch master and slave from autozone and I'm happy with it. Just wondering your guys opinion.

^This. Several other parts stores also offer lifetime warranties on their parts - I tend to buy stuff from Napa and (If Napa doesn't stock it) Schuck's/O'reily's if it's hardware.

I always buy the name brand stuff from Autozone though - whether it's fluids or what have you. Same quality as everyone else, they tend to be a bit cheaper, and if you sign up for their club/card, it's a free $20 for every 5 times you spend $20.

I was looking around autozone website and noticed their description for items seemed to be off. My master cylinder has two wires protruding from the resevoir and the ones they have for sale don't. What is this plug for? Sometime type of sensor? ABS? I don't have the module that's pictured above.

That's a low fluid sensor and you typically reuse the one you have.

Working in the field has taught me NAPA or OEM.
**** Autozone and Advance hard parts. (no experience with O'Reilly's)

Case in point:
My master was leaking, also cause the booster to rust up, decided to replace them both.
I use to work for Advance so I decided to buy their lifetime warranty booster and master.
The first booster i received was wrong AND would not hold any low pressure.
Second booster was correct, so I painted it flat black and installed it.
1 Week after using it, it started to leak with the pedal depressed and has done this ever since.

Here's the best part, no Advance stores stock this product. To order it means I need to front the $104.99, which is refunded when I bring the old one back
but if the new one is bad or incorrect I will have to wait another week for another to be shipped.
I will also have to cringe when I tweak the brake lines going to the master when I R+R the booster. I hate taking the chance at kinking brake lines.

Do the job right with quality parts (especially any kind of brake parts) or do it multiple times, and risk more damage, $, time, frustration, and lost driving time by doing it cheap.

The sensor.
If you look at your stocker, the sensor just slides into a clip on the bottom of the reservoir.
