Hammer and something reasonably sized to wail on it.

Don't hit the boot.

are you taking it off the hub side or the diff side?
hub side, just use and axle puller http://greatnecksaw.com/images/produ...view/27032.jpg
i think u can rent one probly from autozone or something

if its the diff side, i used a bent pry-bar, gives you abit of a hassle but it will come off, or drop the diff first, support it with a jack and then slide the axle off

^ good call. I was thinking from the hub side. I have never taken an axle off the diff. Only installed them.

Ok,..if it in between the Differential stub and the Half shaft itself, get a Screwdriver or something to Pry in between the Axle and Stub.Once you see enough of a crack there, put a crowbar or a Chisel in there and either Pry or hit it apart.
Now,If it is the Axle Hub Side, where that 34mm nut was, then put the Nut back on Flush with the axle(so that threads don't stick out or the nut is Damaged). Then get a Chunk of 2X4 and put it up against the end of the axle.HIT the Damn thing, and it should Release from the spline...there ya go,,Out and undamaged.
