cant set idle

thats pretty much it. i cant get my idle below 900 without leaning out the variable resistor, which makes my car run like ***. right now ive got the screw all the way down, and it bumps along at 800 rpm, misses alot.

is there a chance my throttle cable is too tight? will that affect it? ive tried loosening it, and idle stays the same. is there something im missing?

thats what im scared of, but i cant imagine from where. everythings hooked up and most of the tubes are new. itll idle smooth at 950 w/o the resistor in. so it has to be a small *** leak.

Why are you scared of a vacuum leak?

I would just go to the archives and find the one about idle problems and do all of it.

If you've got the idle adjust screw all the way down, and she's still idling at 900 or whatever, then you definetly have some air coming in from somewhere...Either that, or you've screwed with your idle mixture screw one too many times

Never had an idle problem, even after the rebuild...Does that mean I don't belong to the club?

Attention to detail when reinstalling things, going by the book on any idle adjustments, and leaving things on the car that are there solely for the purpose of maintaining a decent idle are the keys to success...
