Cant pass smog...

My brother just picked up a 87 TII, and for him to transfer title to his name, it needs to get smogged. Well we went out today and it failed, the car is stock, is there anything that we can do to make it pass?

Somethings i heard can be done (guys that know confirm) is to throw a some alcohol in the gastank, and retard the timing a few degrees. Car won't run awesome, but it should pass. Make sure your airpump is working too.

Drive the car really hard before going to take the test. It is supposed to help a bit, make sure the air pump works too.

I took mine out for a long drive before I went to get smogged. It passed with more than just flying colors, it barely registered on the gauge.

If he jsut purchased the car, the previous owner is requierd to make sure it will pass. If it wont you should call the previous owner.

Get the tank down to under 1/4 and throw in a half gallon of methyl hydrate. It won't hurt the motor and will burn super clean.

New plugs and new oil, plus a good half hour drive before the test goes a long way towards passing.

And check this out:
