it should jus turn right off. try wd-40 or pb blaster. wat i did one time was loosen the side that connects to the oil cooler first, then pull the motor then turned by hand. I hate these stupid lines too, I know how you feel. Good luck.

When I took my lines off for my s5 89 swap, I used a long"foot long" wrench with pipe or another wrench, to pry that f_cker off. Diddn''t break anythin but was a bitch to get off. Good look bro.

I think I used a 23mm wrench, or was it 27mm? Anyways, I just gave the other end a good wack with a hammer and it broke loose the bolt.

A dead blow mallet hit on the end of wrench is very effective.
It will loosen everything except maybe the 54mm flywheel nut.

Be careful with the fitting on the front cover. You have to hold the engine side of the fitting from turning with a 21mm wrench, or you will twist & crack the oil cooler tube.

I used a 23mm 1/2 inch impact socket (only six sides inside for better grip) and a 3 foot breaker bar to get mine off. This should work if you have not already rounded off the bolt very badly. If you have messed up the bolt you could resort to welding on a socket and then using the breaker bar. This will however most likely fry your oil hose though.

Good luck. Seems there is always that one bolt that screws up every project.

Or the front pully nut if it has threadlock on it. I actually snapped an impact grade 3/8 adapter on it.
As for the oil cooler line, just get a breaker bar with a 23mm socket on it. I ended up having to jump on it, I think.

For really stubborn bolts, maybe borrow someone's impact wrench. If you don't have access to one, you can try this (but I take no responsibility for any damage): The front end of the car is already on jackstands, right? Get your 1/2" ratchet and 23mm socket, put it on the nut (assuming it's not rounded off), and use your floor jack on the handle of the ratchet. I've broken free nuts this way... but I do that as a last resort. Since then, I bought an impact wrench. No problems since!

one question about the impact... the bolt is somewhat deep and hard to get to, i can only reach the bolt from it's side so...

rtking:if you could elaborate on the"not responsible for" way to do it.. anything that'll work will do!

thanks alot for the help guys!

You can get impact wrenches that are shaped like a hand wrench, a little wider but it should be able to fit. Craftsmen makes a few for pretty good prices if you dont have access to one for free.

Get a big breaker bar and lean on it. I mean a 6-10 foot bar. Using such a bar should let you put over 1200 Ft-LBS on the bolt with little effort and it WILL come out.

In this instance, you need more TORQUE, not HORSEPOWER... lol Stay away from using adjustable wrenches / vice-grips...use a socket, the right tool for the job.

Aaron said it best - get a long F***ing breaker bar. The plumbing dept. of home depot or lowes will have what you need. ~rich

Haha beat me to it... I broke 2 sets of craftsman tools, and broke a "breaker bar" on an FD pulley bolt... Even took a 3/4" drive 1000lb/ft impact wrench to it (using not one but TWO 1000 gallon compressors) and it still wouldn't come off... Had to throw the blowtorch to it...

Yep, me too. When I went in to sears with a sheared off 3/8th adapter, he told me to use an impact grade one and that I was God if I could break that. So I broke it. When I came back in, he went around showing all of his co-workers. It was quite funny.
As for your bolt, just do what Aaron said, 1/2 drive breaker bar with a big-*** pipe on the end. Make sure you use a 6-point and not a 12-point, as you are less likely to round off the bolt. Also, it wouldnt hurt to have someone making sure the socket doesn't twist and round off the bolt that way, but thats mainly if all you have is a 12-point.
