Can't get my codes?

O.K. I got a 91 vert and I think that it is in "limp mode" ~~ here is a little of the back story ~~~ https://www.rx7club.com/south-rx-7-forum-34/picked-up-91-vert-975058/
But I can't seem to get the check engine light to flash? Am I doing something wrong?

I "believe" you can manually pull the codes on an S5 much like you can on an S4. You need to make the LED code checker used for the S4. You then find the check connector which I believe is Green and located near the battery and has the following three wires; Yellow, Yellow/Black and Black/White. You use these wires to connect to the code checker and then you ground the single wire check connector near the battery as well and then turn key to on and it should provide you the fault codes. Might be wrong on this, but I remember helping another poster with a similar problem months ago and he had success if I remember correctly.

Yeah I know how to get the codes ~~~ if the check engine light would blink, but it doesn't.. Are the connectors on the passenger side of the car the same as on the driver? Should I try it on the other side? WHY WON'T IT BLINK?

With the S5, you just ground the ISC. It will blink the CEL on the dash with your codes. No LED checker needed like with the S4.

Its a single pin green connector. It needs to be grounded to the chassis..

You're not listening. The method I illustrated is for when the CEL doesn't work. Did you not state yours doesn't work properly and you would like an alternative method? Well, this is what I suggested.

In the link (post #16) he provided he already tried the normal method, but it didn't work so he asked for another possible alternative for pulling codes, which is what I offered him, but I gather he doesn't understand what was suggested.

another user suggested that the ecu only stores the codes for one cycle... so I checked the codes immediately after they appeared and it worked for me then.
