canadian A-pillar mouldings

i bought a brand new S5 headliner to put in my S4 only to find out the S5 headliner isn't wide enough to tuck under the S4 a-pillars and from what i hear the S5 a pillars would have a big ugly gap if i put them on without the auto seat belts. so im wondering what i should do..and im also wondering if S5 canadian A-pillars are the same as American S4 a-pillars? or if the canadian uses the same headliner as our S5. maybe the canadian S5 a-pillars are wide enough to cover the headliner but they don't have the gap for the auto belts since the canadian spec rx7s never had auto belts.. i know this sounds confusing but i dont know how else to put it..

I'd post here https://www.rx7club.com/canadian-forum-42/ so more likely some canadian s5 owner sees your thread/

i just had a thought.. what if i just get my S4 headliner reupholsterd? can you get this type of headliner reupholsterd? even if i can find some realy nice OEM type material i could do it myself with spray glue. ive done door panels before like that and they looked beautiful but after about a year the material started to lift and come unglued. anyone know any good methods of doing this?

i just sold a black s4 headliner last week...took me a few months to get rid of it because nobody seemed to want it lol...

i would try and die your s4 headliner. the only s4's with black interior are the 10th ae's (in the USA that is...)

I got mine reupolstered, last summer.it came out great.
Just remember that the Headliner Board itself should be in Good condition,No obvious Bends,or it will show up in the new material.
My "guy" just put the Material on with the 3m spray adhesive. It worked real nicely. My Bill was 100 bucks Canadian.I also had him do the Sunroof panel.

The Canadian's were not forced into having mouse belts so their A pillars and roof panel are both the same for all model years of FC production.

yeah i knew they didn't have the auto belts but i wasn't sure if mazda made a special A-pillar for those models so they could still use the A spec headliner and b pillars. or if they just stuck with the S4 interior, but i know now that they just used the S4 stuff..

I'm going to strip off the old headliner and foam then buy this foam backed headliner material from jo-ann fabrics and use 3M spray glue to attach it. i did some searching online and found a bunch of write ups on doing this with the jo ann fabric and it looks almost identical to OEM and its very easy to do on our cars because the headliner is very small and is flat for the most part. ill post before and after pics if anyone's interested...
