Not on the S5. I try to stay away from S5 stuff like the plague.

"After-repair procedure: Cancel the memory of malfunction code numbers by disconnecting the negative battery cable for at least 5 seconds, then reconnect the negative battery cable."

A tool-free method of achieving the same result is to pull out the BTN fuse, which provides the ECU's constant power.
no one reads anymore. and I dunno about 5 seconds. I do it for at least 15 min.

I’m confident Mazda knows how long the battery needs to be disconnected to clear the codes.

Yep, that was in response to My5ABaby's question about S5's. I should've quoted it.

I have a cheap battery disconnect I bought at meg-lo-mart for like $4.00. I bought it because my S4 kills the battery in 10 days if I don't drive it. Is the clock supposed to be on all the time? Mine is.
Anyway, every time I re-connect the battery the car always runs the same. Turn the key, crank for 4 seconds, engine fires, revs to 3000 (temp under 40) then settles down to 1500 then maybe 1100.
Or, if I leave the battery connected and drive everyday or every few days, same results.
I feel it learns nothing.
