can you like it says put a series 5 speedometer into a series 4 cluster and change out the guage backings as well as the bezel to series 5 so you run the more accurate guages from the series 4 and keep the series 5 160 speedo????? while keeping s5 guage styling. maybe repin the harness for the guage configuration of the series 5 so the guages would say and read the proper thing. or can you pull a broken rod for the needle out when it is broken into the guage its self?

Why do you want an S5 speedo? The Turbo models go to 160 my car is an S4 and it goes to 160. S4 or S5 doesn't meany anyhting other than style, go with S4 turbo guage cluster and get a apillar voltometer if you want (I didn't know the S4 guages are more acurate, unless someone wants to clear up some B.S.) or just get an S5 Turbo guage cluster and have the better styling, but using S4 cluset with an S5 speedo hybrid sounds like too much trouble and fabrication..

well i have an n/a and i have 2 gutted cars a 91 and an 88 the 88 is great body and chasis with suspension, brake, rims, tire, exhaust, ect. upgrades swaping to s5 motor and like the full circle + i have white face s5 gauge backings both clusters are apart but the series 5 has a broke needle in both the fuel and temp guages. like the 160 speedo. and thus my problem. and my idea remove the screws from the speedos and swap them out. then change over the guage covers and the bezel. so i have the 160 speedo and look like s5 guages. and everywhere ive looked the s4 temp guage is more accurate not trying to bull **** so if any of this explains myself so i can get some advice then im happyish.

the S5 speedo is smaller than the S4 version

you would have to use the whole S5 cluster and re-pin the S4 cluster harness

i've swapped a bunch of components between s4 and s5 clusters, but not the speedo.

calibration would be the biggest issue, since you would be using a different needle.

With a different needle, there would be different weights to the needle.

i mean undoing the speedometer from the board and then bolting it into the s4 but still using the same needle and everything
