Further support that Celica GTS is slow.
C&D: 1/4 in 15.7...

GTS is not fast, but it makes a great reliable daily driver. IMO, it looks nice.

cost 1/8th of the celica too :-D but comes with 100,000+ factory miles ;-)

And yeah they both look nice. I used to think the new style looked ugly but its grown on me

haha okok. I dont know anything. Sorry sorry I dont know what magazine you read that Celica GTS that runs mid 14s. If you find one, I will gladly eat that magazine for you. On the other hand, if I find some that runs 15s, you want to eat it for me? Celica All Trac might be heavier and only have 20hp more, but guess what. It has more torque than you can ever imagine. Also advantage of awd at take off. Can you say, go home and lick your own crack before you come and attack people? And dont say my car has intake and exhaust and it will run 14s. Unless you have a time sheet to back it up. We will have to raise the BS flag for ya. Sorry if this sounds like a flame, but truth hurts

Celica GTS reliable??? Hahaha that's a JOKE, read the newcelica.org, more than a few peolpe have blown their engine due to overreving. However the celica GTS is FASTER than the 2nd Gen NA, I raced one from 40 - 100 and I endend up front....but not by much (he was about 3 feet behind my bumper). My 91 NA has I/H/E, his had a Demo tag.....don't know if it was auto or 6spd.

I know that when they first started driving all magazines had a 15.7or8 1/4. Let me find the magazine that has it o-60 in 6.8, and 1/4 is 14.6. Why would I try to lie about this? If it was only 15's then who cares, but it can be done. We are also not talking about mr2s here, the weight, and gearing is different in all cars. The new toyota van or whatever has the same engine as a gts, does that mean its gonna be as fast as a celica.

How is that carb conversion? How much does it help? Any negative effects? O yea, how much did it cost ya? Thanks.

the carb conversion cost me about 800 bucks from www.mazdaracing.com, it included the low pressure fuel pump, manifolds, carbs, lines, air filter and a carb tuning kit(only reason i got the fuel pump is bcause they were having a package special).

As for negative effects the only big thing is the fuel economy, but when I planned this for my car that wasnt a concern

The carb conversion alone adds around 40HP (according to mazdaracing and my *** planted in my seat). It is much more reliable and low maintenence(for me, because ive been using carbs opposed to EFI for a while). If you want the most HP out of your NA the carb conversion is a must(especially with a healthy shot of NOS) I have the stock motor(162,000 miles), with a recent blown oil seal, and the next engine will be identical but it will have a streetport on it as well.

How bad is the fuel economy affected? I want more power but this is my daily so I doubt I will do it. I am gunna go with a 50 wet shot after I get everything else done. Thanks though.

I raced a modded GT-S on the highway about a month ago and put my foot up his ***. I'm not sure what he had but at least an exhaust. I'm guessing more judging by the clean look of the car and the way he drove it, but of course I'm not sure. I egged him on for awhile and he dropped back a car and I heard him downshift and start winding out. I downshifted when he was beside me and almost instantly matched his speed. From 80-120 he had to have been about 8-10 cars back. So what you're telling me is I run mid-13s? Sorry man, more like low 14's and maybe a 13.9 with some help from God. After I whupped him I slowed down for a bit of traffic and he kept on it and flew by... I caught up after a minute, and I was behind him walking right up on him then letting off... this was @ 140. I honestly believe that car can't pull past 145.

P.S. - This was in my T2, I'm just giving an indication of how fast they are comparitively
