can you band aid an air leak?
my car wont hold idle so i took it to a shop to get it checked. sure enough they spray rigt under the TB and theres an air leak or so im told. but yeah soon as they sprayed the idle jumped and they said theres your problem. well i was wondering if an SAFC would band aid the problem for now. let me know if anyone can help me with this. thanks ahead

no an safc will not help at all. time to take off the TB and fix that leak 
all safc's do is alter the airflow signal from the airflow meter. i suppose you could richen it up at idle to try to help, but it probably wont do anything. i say just downloda the FSM, get out the 3/8" ratchet, 12mm socket, extension, and get to it.

I agree...Band Aid's are never the solution...since they don't fix a problem...they just make it go away for a while...It my be something simple once you get down into it!

yup ... in my case .... a throttle cable that was too loose..... man that still pisses me off

see heres the deal, i have a potential buyer who is very intrigued by the car but doesnt want to take the chance that might just be an air leak. so im in need of assistance of selling a rebuilt and port turboII for 3100. lol long story short, plz help

Dude, goto walmart and get a 10 dollar socket set. I spent 25 dollars on tools, and have taken my car apart to basicly a shortblock.
It takes 10 MINUTES to take the throttle body off. Take it off and start examining.
If there's a crack somewhere or air leak/hole.. go spend another 2 bucks and get some JB Weld. That's what I used to plug the holes when I removed the second set of throttle plates.
The FSM is the Factory Service Manual.
