rx8 transmissions are apparently no good above 250hp, in the other thread abotu this someone mentioned something about the internals breaking in quite a few rx8's
Turbo II transmission is a reliable "drop in" and is made to handle horsepower, try to get a hold of one.

i'm pretty sure that torque is the determining factor in whether or not it breaks, as opposed to hp. torque being an actual force, and hp being some esoteric derivitive measurement that i don't understand.
Horse power in cars is a measurement of peak work rate. foot pounds per hour(not sure on the time standard). Torque is a measurement of instantaneous applied force. foot pounds. Something may be able to apply alot of torque for an instant but not maintain that level(high torque low HP) or something may be able to sustain the torque levels somewhat over a long periiod of time and thus have a higher HP rating. If you can flatten or raise your torque curve in the high RPMs then you will substantially increase your HP(eg better air flow, turbo, nos, less moving mass).

5th gear on the FE tranny is the same as the 4th on FC trannys anyway, so there is no real advantage of using the RX-8 tranny, and 6th on the FE tranny is actually taller (.83 vs .71) than the FC, resulting in lower mileage.
