How much T2 ->300 hp

I was just wondering to all those engine builders, if ya could tell me how much will it take to get a T2 to run good at 300 rwhp. I know that its going to need an engine rebuild and a street port. what else would help it get 300rwhp and keep it there?

fuel system?
engine setup?
gears?

reason why I ask this information is to check wether its cost effective to swap a T2 into my FB. It will be either the T2 or a 13B-REW that goes in. I am in the early stages of makeing my plan, this is the best time to scope the other engines out there.

What would it take for a t2 to handle say.. a 50 shot? Can it be done on stock components after a rebuild and a port job?

hybrid turbo - $500-1000
SAFC or Fcon - $200
fuel pump - $100
exhaust - $400-1000
intake mods - $50-100
tune up - $100
injectors - $200
misc wiring - $50
tuning - $500
boost controller - $75-300
Intercooler (not needed for 300RWHP but a lot easier to achieve) - $1000
radiator - $250-500

these figures do not include labor(exc. tuning), if you cannot do the work yourself add on about $1000-3000 in labor.

You defiantly do not need to port a TII engine to get 300 to the ground, unless you enjoy having less torque for more $ that is. I would say a good FMIC is necessary though.

if your engine builder does it right, you can GAIN torque above 2200 rpm through quicker spoolup. how often do you HONESTLY cruise the car around below that?

of course you don't NEED to port for that hp level, but you can get there at a lower boost level, and with lower intake temps if you do. and if the motor needs to be rebuilt anyway...

omg.. thats just funny as hell.

I wasn't sure about porting or not. I have never owned a turbo car and am not sure how to make one produce more power. I was thinking maybe going with higher boost and bigger injectors... so it seems porting is not good for a 'weekend warrior'

maybe I should just stick with the 13B-rew swap i have been planning for a lil bit. atleast it makes more power at stock. To be honest though I am not sure if that what I really want. I want my car to stay on the low noise level side.. so that it will act more like a sleeper car. I was even planning to paint it beige or tan.
geeezzz everything get complicated when you think deep into something.. just like haveing kids!

I need to look at things for differnt angles. I guess I am going to do some more research, thanks guys.

Yeah, look into the porting a little bit more. From my knowledge and experience, porting is a safe, reliable and relatively easy way to achieve really good power gains.

If you're planning to rebuild a rotary, porting will set you back several hours of labor and some $ for porting templates (unless someone shows you what's up).

A street-port virtually does nothing to detract from low-end torque.

that part sorta kinda depends on the setup. streetport without early opening, virtually no torque loss at all.

early opening streetport (depends on how much, obviously), you'll lose power until the turbo spools, but the turbo spools faster, so it's not very noticable.

n/a's are a different story.

Going turbo will be a hell of a lot quiter than NA. My 82 NA is soooo damned loud. I love it, but I am glad my T2 is a bit quiter.

I would say a good FMIC is necessary though.
Why?

If the guy was aiming at 400hp, I'd agree.
But I don't get the impression that an FMIC is necessary to get to 300.

^you can never have too much safety........I'd do it to keep temps low........and avoid detonation.
