can only make 11psi, bad turbo?
Hey,
on the first run of the day after warming up the turbo will spike past ( .5 - 1psi ) the electronic boost controller limit
but after that once they system is hot it wont to make over 11 psi if i crack the controller up to 14psi or so.
It is a stok S5 turbo with ported wastegate.
My engine is street ported tho.

i WISH i had this problem. expect its vise-versa for me. Jspec S5 streetported engine with S4 turbo + ported wastegate. holds boost at around 11-13. boost creep takes over from there and i have to feather the gas to keep it from destryoing my turbo..

[QUOTE]I thought I heard the stock turbo isn't very reliable past 12 psi? Or at least the stock IC isn't, I very well could be wrong about the stock turbo.[/QUOTE
Its not so much reliability as it is efficiency. The stock intercooler is crap above 10 psi, and the stock turbo is innefficient above 12 psi. Basically your just pumping hot air into your engine, which makes blowing it a hell of alot easier.

It's reliability too. Past 11-12psi you're overspeeding the turbo and dramatically shortening bearing life.
That's at redline. Peak stock boost is 6.6psi and 8.3psi respectively.

Telling people they can make higher boost above redline isn't exactly information I would divulge on a forum populated with the mechanically inept. That's all I was saying.
