Can an N/A Driveline handle 300HP?

My plans for my car are as follows: large streetport/100HP nitrous/ along with current mods. Im thinking this will put me at about the 300HP mark, when Im spraying anyways. Ive heard it said that the N/A driveline cant handle more than ~250HP(rwhp???) Im sure that without the nitrous I will be ok, but for the occasional spray (maybe a few times a week) will my tranny and stuff be ok? Thanks

Well I already have a ACT clutch and PP , supposidly 75% more pressure than the stocker, and a RB aluminum flywheel, so Im not thinking that will be a problem. I just dont want to spray it and watch my tranny explode, or see my driveshaft flying out or anything.

It should be able to but it really depends on wear inside the tranny, there is always a chance it will let go.

Your chances are better if you use a progressive shot so that all that horsepower doesn't come on all at once. The sudden jolt is what will kill ya!

I was running my 13B pp with a 150shot with no problems. As long as you are'nt grabbing traction (Drag radials or slicks are no-no's.)you'll be fine. CJ

Well Im assuming no hard nitrous launches, thats a given. But, other than that when Im spraying nitrous it wont exactly be "easy" on the driveline, so I was just wondering.

Ive got a modded TII engine on my na driveline w/ a centerforce clutch and pp. Hasnt failed me yet and Im guessing Im at well over 250 to the flywheel and I launch hard too.

Tranny....yes. Clutch and flywheel...no.

Nope.

Syncro tollerance for a stock NA is such that any increase in power will decrease their life. I'd be nervouse approaching 200 hp, much less 300 hp on a stock NA Tranny.

If you build to that HP level, you'd be best to retrofit a TII Tranny. Will require a new clutch, aftermarket flywheel with counterweight, and a drive axle from an Automatic at the minimum to go TII Tranny route.

Boy...I'm glad my Syncro's did'nt know I war running an easy 400+ flywheel hp. Even with 25k street driven/track miles, the tranny worked flawlessly. (The box had a total of 160k miles on it. (Never rebuilt), and is running around still to this day. I was also running a 4 puck clutch, and dual diaphram pressure plate.

Don't worry about the driveline. The weakest link is the input/output shaft. As long as your not grabbing lots of traction, the n/a driveline will hold just fine. Trust me. Not to mention I daily drive my n/a 2nd gen now somewhere near 200hp without a problem.

hey rxmfn7

Man i got that clutch disc like yours with the polyurethane springs....damn its harsh to say the least

Your setup for the car will be just fine on the drivetrain and that clutch kit will help out on the synchros relieving some of the stress that nitrous will put out

About 10years ago, we did a NA to T2 swap and used the NA drivetrain. Yeah....didn't last long at all. Blew third then second...then gone. We did not know the original condition of the system. I could have been a factor that we did NOT change out the fluids.....

Just like PP13BNOS said, its good as long as your not useing large slicks or something. otherwise your going to be fine.
