only if you could build a fixture for it that mounts to the engine. the tester needs to be mounted to the block and able to measure at a point somewhere on either end of the e-shaft.

Jacob, All you need is any type of caliper that can accuratly measure the difference of your end play. I used the 'other' end of my calipers. There is that little peices that comes out as you open it. just use one of those to measure.

You could use that. I'm curious. What is that used for??? It's a dial indicator of some sort, that we can see. Does it have a magnetic base? Or is it used for sliding over surfaces to look for irregularities? OR??

I did a web search for STAMA but only come up with a manufacturing firm in
Germany and it dealt with end mills etc.

I use a dial indicator with a magnetic base and attach it to the flywheel with the *indicator* touching the rear housing. Then shove back and forth on the flywheel while looking at the indicator.

The company is TAMA, and the instrument is used to measure the tension of a drum head in a drum set.
